The Eco Park is an initiative of the local Forest Department and the citizens to set up an eco friendly space with great walking trails, sitting spaces, soft adventure activities, etc. in the midst of the lush greenery. One can also cycle or drive down to the majestic Tehri Dam (amongst the largest dams in the world) and spend some time walking around the gigantic lake that was formed by the dam. On your way back to Delhi, you could also try your hand at the exciting sport of river rafting on the Ganges.This is one of the best river rafting experiences in India. There are exciting 1 - 4 hrs sessions of rafting that one could indulge in. You would raft through exciting Class I to III+ rapids. There are sections that are suitable for children also and one can also spend a lot of time swimming in the cool waters of the river. A trip through the towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh is also recommended as there are some beautiful temples, ashrams and bathing ghats that one gets to see coupled with the glorious history that these towns occupy in India's epic culture.

How to Reach Sursingdhar
 

For travel to the camp, a combination of train/air and road travel is recommended. The closest railway station to the camp is Haridwar and there are a number of trains that connect to Haridwar from all over the country. For train details, you could log on to www.indianrail.gov.in and for online railway ticket bookings you could log on to www.irctc.co.in. For air travel, the closest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport (at Dehradun) and is well connected to Delhi and other parts of the country by Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, etc. If you require assistance in booking, do get in touch with us.

Tehri Dam

New Tehri The Tehri Dam is a multi-purpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand, India. It is the primary dam of the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd. and the Tehri hydroelectric complex. Phase 1 was completed in 2006, the Tehri Dam withholds a reservoir for irrigation, municipal water supply and the generation of 1,000 MW of hydroelectricity. Two more phases with an additional 400 MW run-of-the-river and 1,000 MW pumped storage hydroelectricity are under construction.

New Tehri

Tehri Tehri derives its name from "Trihari", a place that cleanses three types of sins namely sins born out of Mansa, Vacha and Kamana or thought, word and deed respectively. The ruins of Old Tehri lies under water today.
New Tehri is a modern town spread over an altitude from 1,550 – 1,950mts above sea level overlooking the gigantic lake and the Tehri dam.
New Tehri is the district headquarters of Tehri Garhwal district situated 16kms from Old Tehri. The most important tourist attraction of Tehri is the Tehri Dam, one of the world's largest hydroelectric projects harnessing waters of two important rivers of the Himalayas namely Bhagirathi and Bhilangana. New Tehri is the only planned city of Uttarakhand which is developing as a popular tourist spot because of its pleasant temperature and salubrious weather. New Tehri receives snowfall during winters. Several sightseeing options have been built by the government at New Tehri.
Tehri district has lot of option for tourists to spend their leisure. This division contains lot of options for tourism and has lot of religious places. Most visited places of Tehri are Devi koonjapuri temple and chandrabadni and Tracking route of Mahasar taal, Sehstra taal and Khatling glacier is very much popular amongst foreigner tourists and are being developed. Some areas of tehri are viewable but neglected by Uttarakhand Government such places are Panwali Kantha,Belhbagi Bugyal and Khait parvat, here no attention is given by government but these places have potential to attract tourists for mountaineering.New district headquarter New Tehri can be looked as a future tourist spot here view of spectacular tehri lake can be viewed.

Chamba

chamba About 50 km from Mussoorie & 60 Kms from Rishikesh, is the small hill town of Chamba, Uttaranchal. Chamba is at an altitude of 1600 mt above sea level. It is situated at the junction of roads leading from Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Tehri Dam/ Lake and New Tehri.
Its nearby tourist places are Dhanaulti, Surkanda Devi Temple, Ranichauri, New Tehri, and Kanatal, midway through Chamba-Dhanaulti road. One can reach Chamba in about 7-8 hrs from Delhi via Hardwar, Rishikesh and Narendranagar (290 km). One can also combine stay at Chamba with one at Mussoorie or Dhanolti and reach via Dehradun, Mussoorie and Dhanolti. Previously Chamba was a part of the Gorkha Kingdom but the Kings of Garhwal later ruled this place. Chamba is a scenic spot with natural splendors which lures the nature lovers throughout the year. Explore the pastoral life of the people living near villages in Chamba. Chamba is only two hours drive away from Rishikesh. The average literacy rate of Chamba is 76% which is higher than the national average literacy rate.

Kanatal

Kanatal Located on the Chamba-Mussoorie highway, half way towards Dhanaulti is Kanatal, a hamlet built around numerous hills, a locale which personifies the romantic aura of Tehri District, Uttarakhand, State. With swaying deodars and spectacular Himalayan views, Kanatal astonishes people that such pristine Himalayan wildnerness is accessible in such a short distance from the plains. At an altitude of over 8500 feet (2590 meters) with well paved roads and villages and orchards dotting the place, a picnic in Kanatal is compulsory and made special by the people at the Lodge.

Dhanaulti

Dhanolti Dhanaulti is located amidst thick virgin forests of deodar, rhododendron and oak. Dhanaulti has an atmosphere of placidity and tranquillity. Indulge yourself in the lazy outings, long wooded slopes, cool breeze, salubrious weather and exquisiteness of Dhanaulti. Unobstructed views of the snow capped Himalayan peaks are distinctly visible from Dhanaulti, adding charm to this heavenly place. Dhanaulti is situated on Mussoorie – Chamba road at an elevation of 2286mts above sea level.
Dhanaulti is a popular excursion from the Lodge and can be combined with Kanatal and Surkhanda Devi Temple. Dhanaulti showers tourists with natural splendours all round the year. The region receives snowfall during winters making it even more captivating destination. Dhanaulti is a woody paradise that makes you forget where you are. The popular trekking excursions of Dhanaulti will lead you to Surkanda Devi, Chandrabadni and Kunjapuri, the sacred three of the holy Devi Darshan triangle. Dhanaulti is also written as Dhanolti. It is also popular because of its proximity with famous tourist destinations like Mussoorie, Tehri and Chamba. Ever since Mussoorie has become crowded, many tourists love to retreat to Dhanaulti.

Surkhanda devi temple

Surkanda Devi is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Sati (Wife of Shiva) at an altitude of about 3030 metres, or 9995 ft; lies close to nearby hill stations of Dhanaulti (8 km) and Chamba (22 km). It is surrounded by dense forests and affords a scenic view of the surrounding region including the Himalayas to the north, and certain cities to the south (e.g., Dehradun, Rishikesh) The Ganga Dussera festival is celebrated every year between May and June and attracts a lot of people.
